Math Maze

📖 Overview

Math Maze is an arithmetic path-finding puzzle. You are given a grid of numbers connected by mathematical operations (+, -, ×, ÷). Starting from the green cell in the top-left corner, your mission is to navigate to the gold cell in the bottom-right corner. The twist: the operations along your path are applied to a running total, and you must arrive at the end with exactly the target number.

📏 Rules

• Start at the green cell (top-left) — its number is your initial value
• Move to adjacent cells (up, down, left, right) by clicking them
• Each edge between cells has an operation (+, -, ×, ÷)
• When you move, the operation is applied to your running total with the new cell's number
• Operations are applied left-to-right — no operator precedence
• You cannot revisit cells already on your path
• Division is only allowed when the result is a whole number
• Reach the gold cell (bottom-right) with a total matching the target

🎮 Controls

• Click Cell: Move to an adjacent highlighted cell
• Click Previous: Click your previous cell to undo one step
• Undo: Remove your last move from the path
• Hint: Highlights the next correct cell to move to
• New Game: Generate a fresh puzzle
• Sound: Toggle sound effects on/off

🏆 Scoring

• Complete the maze as quickly as possible
• Use fewer moves for a better score
• Higher difficulties have larger grids and longer paths
• Try to solve without using hints
• Each solved puzzle advances your level counter

💡 Tips

• Compare the target to your starting number — is it bigger or smaller?
• Multiplication grows your total fast — use × to reach large targets
• Division shrinks your total — use ÷ for small targets
• Plan your path before clicking — look 2-3 steps ahead
• If stuck, undo and try a completely different direction
• On larger grids, there may be multiple valid paths
