Game Introduction

overview

Arithmetic Sequence is a math puzzle game where you identify the common difference in a number pattern and fill in the missing terms. Each sequence follows a consistent rule: every pair of consecutive numbers differs by the same amount.

rules

  • Each sequence has a fixed common difference (d) between consecutive terms.
  • Some terms are hidden — your job is to figure them out.
  • Use the visible numbers to calculate d, then fill in the blanks.
  • All answers must be exact integers (no decimals).

controls

  • Click a blank cell to select it.
  • Use the on-screen numpad or keyboard to type a number.
  • Press ⌫ to delete the last digit, or Clear to reset.
  • Use the ± button to toggle negative numbers.
  • Press Check to verify, Hint for help, Undo to revert.

scoring

You earn points for each correctly completed sequence. Faster solutions and fewer hints yield higher scores. Each hint deducts a small penalty. Completing puzzles without any hints earns bonus points. Difficulty multiplier: Easy x1, Medium x2, Hard x3.

tips

  • Look for two adjacent given numbers to calculate the common difference quickly.
  • If no two adjacent numbers are given, find the difference over a gap and divide.
  • For negative differences, the sequence decreases — don't forget the ± button.
  • Double-check by verifying d across all given pairs before submitting.

faq

What is an arithmetic sequence?

A list of numbers where each term is obtained by adding a fixed value (the common difference) to the previous term. Example: 3, 7, 11, 15 (d = 4).

Can the common difference be negative?

Yes. In Medium and Hard modes you may encounter decreasing sequences like 20, 15, 10, 5 (d = -5).

How does the Hint work?

Hint reveals the correct answer for one unfilled blank cell. It highlights the cell in orange so you can see which one was filled.
