Game Introduction

overview

Number Grouping is a math logic puzzle. You are given a set of numbers and must divide them into groups where every group has the exact same sum. It tests arithmetic skills and strategic thinking as you figure out which numbers belong together.

rules

  • All numbers must be assigned to exactly one group.
  • Each group must contain the specified number of items.
  • Every group must have the same total sum (shown as the target).
  • Some puzzles may accept multiple valid solutions.

controls

  • Tap/click a number to cycle its group assignment (unassigned → Group 1 → Group 2 → ...).
  • Each group is shown in a distinct color with a badge number.
  • Use Check to validate your grouping.
  • Use Hint to highlight a misplaced number, or Undo to revert.

scoring

Faster solves with fewer moves earn higher ratings. Using Check costs nothing, but each Hint usage reduces your efficiency score. Try to solve without hints for the best result.

tips

  • Calculate the total sum of all numbers first — divide by the number of groups to find the target.
  • Start by identifying the largest numbers; they have fewer valid group partners.
  • If a group sum exceeds the target, swap its largest member with a smaller one from another group.
  • Use the group legend at the top to track each group's running total.

faq

Can puzzles have multiple correct answers?

Yes. Some number sets allow several valid partitions. Any grouping where all groups have equal sums is accepted.

How are difficulty levels different?

Higher difficulties have more numbers, more groups, and larger number ranges, making it harder to find a valid partition.

What does Hint do?

Hint highlights one number that is currently in the wrong group (or unassigned) and shows you which group it should be in.
