Game Introduction
overview
Masyu is a path-logic puzzle played on a grid. Draw line segments between adjacent points to create one closed loop that satisfies all black and white circles.
rules
The final drawing must be one single closed loop, with no crossings and no branches.
Every shown circle must lie on the loop.
At a white circle, the loop must pass straight through.
At least one of the cells immediately before or after a white circle must be a turn.
At a black circle, the loop must turn.
The cells immediately before and after a black circle must both be straight.
controls
Left click edge: cycle empty -> line -> X.
Right click edge: reverse cycle.
Press Check to validate current progress and show a result modal.
Press Hint for one safe correction, or New Game for a fresh puzzle in current mode.
scoring
Cleaner runs use fewer moves and fewer hints. Time is tracked from puzzle generation until solved. Check helps catch contradictions before they spread.
tips
Start by locking obvious white-circle straights and black-circle turns.
Use X marks to block impossible edges and avoid accidental branches.
Use white circles to lock straight lanes, then force nearby turns.
For black circles, first lock the corner, then extend straight on both sides.
If unsure, run Check first, then spend Hint.
faq
Can the loop split into two smaller loops?
No. The final state must be exactly one loop component.
What if Check says unresolved but no red errors?
Your lines are not contradictory yet, but at least one clue rule is still unresolved.
Do large boards use different rules?
No. All modes keep the same rule signature; only size, clue density, and generation parameters change.
